Debriefing User Tests
Oct 23, 2024

After reading this section, what stuck out to me the most was the idea that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to web design. Even if you did the research and found out that a majority of people prefer a side-navigation to a top-navigation, it might not be the best decision for your site. The design decisions you make should be dependent on the context of your website. In order to determine the best option, it's important that you conduct user testing and find out their pain points. For example, you might notice your users struggling to locate, and navigate through, the side-navigation. To remedy this, you might decide that a top-navigation is the best solution for your site. It's also important that this testing gets done early. If you wait too long to conduct user testing, it will make it much harder to make substantial changes to your product. In conclusion, when it comes to user testing, do it early, often, and keep an open mind.
